Todotrial have posted up an interview with the newly crowned world champion, Toni Bou. Although originally in Spanish, you can just about make sense of the translated version. Just be warned it isn’t perfect.

This is a video taken way back in 1994 of Beta rider, Takumi Narita. I think you will agree he’s doing some pretty impressive stuff considering how long ago this was and the fact he’s on an old 94 Beta Techno.

As always, most companies have already announced details for their new 2008 models. Montesa, Gas Gas, Scorpa, Sherco and even the new kid on the block, Xispa. But there is one noticeable absentee from this list, Beta. I don’t know about you but I’m absolutely gasping to have a butchers at the new 2008 model. Maybe it’s delay is due to significant changes to the bike? I haven’t heard too much said about the 2008 models as of yet but I have heard of shouts ranging from a new colour scheme (white?) all the way to a slightly more major change to the frame. I’m anticipating some sort of announcement within the next 2 weeks or so and I have to say I’m pretty excited.

I’ve decided to take a quick look back at the the 2007 world championship series as it was brought to an end over the weekend. Overall I’m not drastically surprised with how it all unraveled. I was half expecting this to be the season we saw Toni Bou come of age and the 4-strokes to improve and become more competitive. James Dabill made an impressive debut season despite a disappointing final round result, Brownie dominated the Juniors and Wiggy had an impressive season on his wee 125 gasser. The mighty atom also turned in an impressive result in Andorra on his first time out on the championship course (9th).
As the younger riders improve year upon year, constantly raising the bar I think 2007 was always going to be difficult for Dougie Lampkin, but you can’t fault what could be his last season? What the future holds for Dougie I don’t know. It sure would be nice to see a bit more of him on the world circuit. 2007 could also be seen as the season for… continue reading...

The much anticipated launch of the new Xispa trials bike took place at the final world round this weekend in Andorra. First impressions are mixed really. I can’t quote work out whether I like it or not. The bike is manufactured in China and they claim will be significantly cheaper then other bikes. I can’t help but wonder what the quality of the product will be like. The overall look of the bike is quite simplistic. The graphics are relatively boring and the bikes isn’t exactly the most colourful of characters. It’s just very very black. It reminds me a lot of the Sherco really and the engine looks tiny.
I’m looking forward to trying the new machine out and it’s always exciting when something new like this comes out in trials. You can see photos of the Xispa here and here… continue reading...

Julien Dupont is a freestyle trials rider from France who sees trials from a slightly different perspective to the rest of us. Although many trials purists could argue this isn’t trials, I don’t think you can deny this is entertaining to watch and for sure would be interesting to try.
