World outdoor trials championship - round 2

Bangor was the stage for the second round of the outdoor world trials championship today. Quick results were as follows

  1. A.Raga - 21
  2. T.Bou - 28
  3. T.Fujinami - 36

So as you can see this time is was Raga’s turn to stand on top of the podium and this puts him and Bou level on 37 points in the championship. Clearly this year is going to be mega tight between the two Spaniards and it looks as though it’s going to be a bit of a two horse race. Fujigas will no doubt be pleased to make up the podium again. Other then that the results are quite similar to the first round.

It’s great to see Wiggy take the Juniors in such convincing fashion as well, and a good second place for Sam Haslam.

It’s a wrap

I’ve decided to take a quick look back at the the 2007 world championship series as it was brought to an end over the weekend. Overall I’m not drastically surprised with how it all unraveled. I was half expecting this to be the season we saw Toni Bou come of age and the 4-strokes to improve and become more competitive. James Dabill made an impressive debut season despite a disappointing final round result, Brownie dominated the Juniors and Wiggy had an impressive season on his wee 125 gasser. The mighty atom also turned in an impressive result in Andorra on his first time out on the championship course (9th).

As the younger riders improve year upon year, constantly raising the bar I think 2007 was always going to be difficult for Dougie Lampkin, but you can’t fault what could be his last season?
